GREEN INDUSTRY RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Theme :

Lignocellulases : from Isolation to Structure-Function Mechanism and Industrial Application

Introduction :

After Millenium Development Goals 2015, Indonesia has commitment to implement The Sustainable Development Goals 2015 – 2030 composed of 17 goals and 169 target. All the targets are integrated and synergized among economy, social, and environment.  Green Industry is the one goal for sustainable development. Recently the application of biocatalyst enzyme in industrial process are increasing year by year due to the eco-friendly impact towards green technology.  That is why the research on Molecular Enzymology and Enzyme Technology are also develop and beneficial for the economic impact. The uses of industrial enzymes are including the food and beverage industry, the textile industry, the leather industry, the paper industry, the livestock industry, the agricultural industry and others. One of the targets of industrial enzyme technology is the use of enzymes in bioconversion of agriculture waste based on lignocellulose.

Indonesia is a tropical country that has the potential to produce lignocellulose waste. Main chemical compounds in agricultural waste are containing lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose. The high content of those lignocellulose waste has the potential as an energy source also industrial raw material. Complete degradation of lignocellulose waste into monomers or oligomers requires synergy of several enzymes including xylanase, cellulase, laccase, pectinase, amylase, mannase, etc.

In order to update our horizon with recent progress in lignocellulases biotechnology field, we organize an research symposium on “LIGNOCELLULASES: FROM ISOLATION TO STRUCTURE-FUNCTION MECHANISM AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION”. The research symposium will include sharing expertise and focus group discussion for 2 days.

With this leaflet, we are looking forward to welcoming you to the research symposium.
